Education Liaison
Reports to: United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s Director of Educational Programs
Category: Part Time
Compensation: $5,000 stipend
Primary Purpose
The Education Liaison will function as the main liaison between the 21st CCLC program and the school to ensure ongoing alignment with the school’s curriculum. The Education Liaison will regularly communicate with the principal to ensure that both the programs and the school’s objectives are being met.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with the community and support agencies
- Adaptable to meet the needs of the families in the program
- Experience with child development and effective parenting techniques
- Experience working with families from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds
- Ability to communicate in native language(s) of program participants preferred
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years in education, social services, adult education, community organizations or related fields
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Meet regularly with teachers and administrators to support 21st CCLC activity/theme alignment to school lessons and units by grade level.
- Collect, review, and provide feedback on activity lesson plans, as well as identify effective curricula, ensuring alignment to learning and SEL standards as well as the program’s specific goals as described in the 21st CCLC proposal.
- Provide workshops, coaching, modeling, and other types of professional development to program staff
- Develop a schedule, in partnership with the site coordinator, to rotate through activities and conduct observations, providing feedback on instructional practice and activity design.
- Support data analysis, identifying trends in student successes and needs to inform the program design and implementation.
- Recruit students and parents to participate in Advisory Board meetings 4 times per year.
- Serve as a member of the program planning team.
- Be available during the school day to provide advocacy for students and families enrolled in the 21st CCLC program.
- Meet with students, teachers, and parents as necessary to communicate student needs.
- Attend required conferences and training sessions and facilitate training to staff.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, site events and parent meetings as requested.

- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Meet deadlines.
- Be willing to travel frequently in the district and occasionally around the state.
- Make visits to local homes and have personal transportation.
- Be willing to work occasional prolonged and irregular hours on evenings or weekends.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in exceptional situations and provide support when a team effort is required.
Personal Work Relationships
- Report to the program director.
- Consult frequently with teachers, principals, counselors and other school-day staff.
- Maintain regular contact with program staff, students, and families.
- Attend monthly program staff meetings and staff development sessions.
