UWWP Awards Capacity Building Grants to Strengthen Nonprofit Sector
United Way of Westchester and Putnam awarded $16,000 in capacity building grants to three Westchester organizations dedicated to supporting the nonprofit sector, Association of Development Officers, Nonprofit Westchester, and Volunteer New York. These grants, approved at UWWP’s November Board Meeting, are part of the organization’s community resilience pillar and build upon $33,000 in capacity building investments made earlier this year.
“Investing in the development of the nonprofit sector’s capabilities to be effective and efficient is crucial for building lasting community resilience,” said Faith Ann Butcher, Chief Impact Officer of United Way of Westchester and Putnam. “These strategic grants to Volunteer New York, Association of Development Officers, and Nonprofit Westchester will strengthen the backbone of our nonprofit community, ultimately enhancing our collective ability to serve those in need throughout Westchester and Putnam counties.”
The awarded organizations play vital roles in supporting and advancing the nonprofit sector across Westchester and Putnam counties. Volunteer New York connects volunteers with meaningful service opportunities, the Association of Development Officers provides professional development for fundraising professionals, and Nonprofit Westchester serves as an advocacy and capacity building organization for the nonprofit sector.
This latest round of grants brings United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s total investment in nonprofit capacity building to almost $50,000 for the year, demonstrating the organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the region’s nonprofit infrastructure. Additionally, United Way of Westchester and Putnam administered about $450,000 this year in financial grants supporting the programs and operations of local nonprofit organizations.
