United Way of Westchester and Putnam Raises $75,000 at Annual Golf Outing
White Plains, NY (October 2019)—United Way’s Day of Golf event, held on Sept. 26, 2019, at Mount Kisco Country Club, raised $75,000 to support the good work of United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP). The event honored Harrison resident Hilary Tuohy.
Tuohy, who is a past president of the National Board of the Executive Women’s Golf Association and a and is also on the board of the LPGA Foundation, was recognized because through her company Lumina Financial Consultants she uses her talents as a financial advisor to help women be empowered and financially secure. Tuohy is a board member of My Sisters Place and is dedicated to giving hope to the women and children the organization serves.
“I am grateful to be recognized by United Way of Westchester and Putnam,” said Tuohy. “Statistics show that money matters, which means that having the knowledge and tools to handle your finances can make all the difference in your life. When I found out the work United Way of Westchester and Putnam does to break the intergenerational ties of poverty, especially through its financial stability initiatives, ALICE $ense and Teach Me To Fish, I connected with its mission.
“Hilary believes in the power of comradery and providing support and encouragement to others when they need it,” said UWWP President and CEO Tom Gabriel. “Thank you to Hilary, her husband Mick, thanks to our organizing committee headed by Matthew Lyness and Bud Hammer, and to our generous sponsors and donors. Our work for the community simply does not happen without their heavy lifting on our behalf.”
This year’s golf outing sponsors included: Matthew and Kathy Lyness, Atlantic Westchester, Dave Yawman of Pepsico, PCSB Bank, Levitt-Fuirst, Apple Bank, Lumina Financial Consulting, and the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 21.
