Position Available: Manager of Social Services (LCSW) / Assistant Director of Educational Programs

Position Description: Through its Education United Afterschool Program, United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP) collaborates with public schools in Westchester’s highest-need communities, aiming to provide essential social and emotional support to the most vulnerable youth. We are committed to fostering safe, successful, and conducive learning environments within schools. Social Workers play a pivotal role in providing ongoing support to students, families, and the school community.
Responsibilities:
– Conduct individual counseling and case management sessions.
– Lead group counseling sessions, either individually or in collaboration with a co-facilitator.
– Collaborate closely with school administration and staff to address the needs of students, families, and the broader school community.
– Integrate into the school culture by establishing positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
– Provide support to students and families during times of crisis.
– Supervise social work interns and ensure their tasks are effectively managed.
– Engage in structured supervision sessions with social workers and interns weekly.
– Maintain thorough and high-quality case notes, bio-psychosocial assessments, and goal plans.
– Co-create and mentor direct reports to enhance their professional practice.
– Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including program partners, parents, and community leaders.
– Assist in overseeing the management of all educational programs facilitated by UWWP.
– Assist in coordinating staff, interns, and volunteers involved in educational initiatives.
– Contribute to the development of outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies for students and families.
– Supervise student recruitment and retention efforts.
– Collaborate with program staff and school leadership to schedule various educational and extracurricular activities.
– Attend mandatory meetings and participate in professional development training sessions.
– Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
– Possession of a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) degree from an accredited school of social work.
– Minimum one year of experience working in a school setting; strong preference for candidates with extensive experience working with students and families.
– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a flexible and proactive approach.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
– Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
– Must successfully pass a criminal background check and obtain clearance for working with vulnerable populations.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
– Ability to perform physical work, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unaided, is required.
– Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license as well as a personal vehicle.
