United Way Distributes Nearly 5,000 Toys for Holiday Season

United Way of Westchester and Putnam helped brighten the holiday season for local families by coordinating the distribution of nearly 5,000 toys to low-income families throughout the region. Through the generosity of corporate donors, including Amazon and Good 360, World of Giving, IBM, Triton, and Customers Bank, and individual donors, United Way collected toys to help ensure all children have gifts to unwrap this holiday season.

The toys collected were distributed to over 20 partner organizations, including school districts, nonprofits, and religious institutions across Westchester and Putnam counties. From there, local partner organizations connected the toys directly to families needing extra support this holiday season.

The initiative was carried out through United Way’s Essential Goods for Basic Needs program, which provides more than $5 million worth of new items from retailers and manufacturers to help individuals and families have access to essential basic needs items like bedding, clothing, small houseware goods, and mattresses through our local nonprofit partners.

“The holiday season can be particularly challenging for many families in our community,” said Avery Zuvic, Director of Community Impact at United Way of Westchester and Putnam. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of corporations and individual donors, we’re able to help parents and caregivers provide their children with the magic of opening presents during the holidays.”

This collaborative effort between businesses, community organizations, and United Way demonstrates the powerful impact that can be achieved when the community comes together to support local families, ensuring that the spirit of giving reaches those who need it most during the holiday season.
