United Way Works to Close the Transportation Gap
United Way of Westchester and Putnam launched its Ride United Transportation Access program to address unmet transportation needs for individuals and families across the Westchester and Putnam counties.
The Ride United Transportation Access Program offers free Lyft rides to residents without access to a vehicle or public transportation. These rides can be used for non-emergency medical appointments, job interviews, workforce development training, court appearances, and other health and human service-related meetings.
Residents must be referred to the program through a partnering nonprofit or agency. To become a partnering agency, email Faith Ann Butcher, UWWP’s chief impact officer, at fbutcher@uwwp.org.
Participants must request rides at least 24 hours before the needed scheduled time of pick up. Additionally, up to three people can use one ride, and at least one rider must be over 18 years of age.
